Sandro Mondragone, known to everyone as “il Drago”, the Dragon, was once an ice hockey champion.

Ten years ago, during a decisive final, he lost control and attacked a referee. That single impulsive act cost him his career, his marriage, his reputation and, above all, his relationship with his daughter Thea.

Since then, he has lived on the margins, consumed by regret and convinced that there are no more games left for him to play.

Then fate offers him an unexpected second chance: coaching a youth team of rebellious, undisciplined kids from disadvantaged backgrounds whom no one else is willing to take on.

Sandro accepts the challenge, only to find another surprise waiting at the ice rink. Thea, now grown up, has become a talented figure skater and trains at the same rink under Julia, a determined coach who refuses to let anyone push her around.

Through gruelling training sessions, painful defeats and clashes between generations, Sandro must learn to control his temper and prove to the kids, and above all to himself, that he has changed.

As the team learns to stand together, he tries to break down the wall between himself and his daughter, while an unexpected connection begins to grow between him and Julia.

Gradually, the unruly group becomes a real team, and the ice rink becomes a place where everyone has a chance to start again.

But when Sandro is forced to choose between returning to his past and protecting what he has only just rebuilt, he realises that the toughest game of his life is still ahead of him.
