Marta Sironi is thirty-five and stubbornly refuses to give up her dream of becoming a comedian.

After yet another failure at a stand-up competition, she suddenly finds herself unemployed and homeless. Her best friend Fabiana takes her in, but only for three days, and on one condition: Marta must finally abandon her dream of making it as a comedian.

Instead, Marta gets a second chance in the competition and, at the same time, finds somewhere to live by reinventing herself as “Frau Klara”, a strict and highly qualified German nanny.

Lorenzo Nuti, a handsome forty-five-year-old widower, needs an iron-fisted nanny to handle his two difficult children, Chiara and Luigi. The children soon discover Marta’s true identity and blackmail her into giving them more freedom at home.

Meanwhile, Marta decides to enter the competition again, rewriting her act and drawing inspiration from her new life with the Nuti family, with all its lies, complications and unexpected moments of intimacy.

As time passes, she grows genuinely fond of the children and develops an increasingly deep connection with Lorenzo, putting strain on her casual relationship with Federico, the owner of the stand-up club where she performs.

Driven by jealousy, Federico devises a plan to expose Marta in front of Lorenzo, reveal her true identity and jeopardise everything she has built.

Hurt but wiser, Marta must choose whether to keep hiding or finally face the truth, embrace who she really is and fight for her dream without losing the people she has learned to love.
