Gaetano, the young heir to a noble Neapolitan family, is preparing to leave his beloved aunts, his friends and his adored Naples for cold Frankfurt, where a prestigious job chosen by his father Giorgio awaits him.

Giorgio is convinced that he knows what is best for his son, and Gaetano has never found the courage to stand up to him.

Then an accident unexpectedly prevents his departure. Gaetano knocks down Sharon, a beautiful young woman from a much humbler background but with a fiercely independent character, and wrecks the precious vintage car that once belonged to his late mother, an object to which his father is obsessively attached.

The car is uninsured, and in order to keep the accident secret, Gaetano is forced to accept Sharon’s terms and take over her two jobs: waiting tables at Fefè’s restaurant and helping at the fish market.

Meanwhile, his charming but indolent aunts draw Gaetano into a battle with Alfonso, the dishonest administrator of the family estate, who is systematically running it into the ground for his own benefit.

What begins as a disaster becomes an unexpected opportunity for both Gaetano and Sharon. Burdened by her freeloading family and a clingy boyfriend she no longer loves, Sharon has never had the time or freedom to dream, or to say what she truly thinks and feels.

In that respect, she and Gaetano may not be so different after all.
