Thirty-year-old Walter Vismara likes his life orderly and free of surprises. An accountant by instinct even before becoming one by profession, he keeps the books at a small factory in Vigevano.

Then, overnight, the factory closes and Walter finds himself reluctantly catapulted into a modern, cutting-edge company in bustling Milan, working for the brilliant and dynamic Cavalier Tosetto.

Everything would be fine were it not for Tosetto’s obsession with “folber”, football, in the terminology coined by sports writer Gianni Brera. Every week, he makes his employees play a match: bachelors against married men.

Walter, who considers football an utterly pointless sport, claims to be a goalkeeper simply because it is the only position he knows.
