Hammamet
Hammamet reflects on a searing chapter in Italy’s recent history. Twenty years have passed since the death of one of the most controversial political leaders of twentieth-century Italy, and a name that once dominated the headlines is now surrounded by deafening silence. A name that still unsettles, evokes dark memories and seems to have been erased without appeal.
Inspired by real accounts, the film is neither a faithful historical chronicle nor a political pamphlet. Imagination may depart from the facts as they actually happened, but not from the truth.
The story unfolds like a thriller around three central figures: the fallen leader, the daughter who fights for him, and a mysterious young man who enters their world and attempts to tear it apart from within.
