Paola, with her wild hair and immaculate nails, has inherited both her father’s “grace” and his profession: she is a lorry driver.

She travels thousands of miles from north to south and, just a few days before New Year, is on the verge of winning an important national competition: the “Lorry Driver of the Year” award, the same title her father once tried to win.

Her tough character and domineering manner make her feared by colleagues and acquaintances alike, and not everyone is pleased by the prospect of her victory.

Paola is certainly not known for holding her tongue. Whenever she stops at the Hotel 3 Rose in the Sila, she takes particular pleasure in mocking Carlo, a chauffeur she has cheekily nicknamed “Ambrogio” because of his refined tastes and impeccable manners.

But behind the lioness’s mane lies a deeply sensitive soul. Paola is hopelessly in love with the voice of Lucio, Italy’s sexiest podcaster, and with his programme La Voce di Cupido.

Then, on the morning of 28 December, what begins as an ordinary day changes everything.

As Paola leaves the 3 Rose, she swerves and slams on the brakes to avoid a car entering the car park the wrong way. Furious, she immediately starts hurling insults at the driver.

But the moment the unfortunate man opens his mouth to defend himself, Paola recognises the voice.

It is Lucio.

A dream come true, except that his velvety voice does little to improve her mood when she discovers that her lorry will not start.

Paola assumes the breakdown was caused by her near collision with Lucio. What she does not know is that someone close to her tampered with the vehicle during the night.

How is she supposed to find the spare part she needs in the middle of the Christmas holidays and get back on the road in time to win the competition?

Lucio, meanwhile, would like nothing more than to escape the awkward situation. But after a misunderstanding leads some fans to mistake Paola for his new girlfriend, his producer urges him to play along with the romantic gossip, which could help him out of a difficult media situation.

Lucio offers to help Paola find the missing part.

There is only one problem: they have no car.

The only vehicle available appears to be Carlo’s.

And so begins a hilarious and heartfelt journey for Paola, Carlo and Lucio, an unlikely triangle travelling in search of a way to repair not only the lorry, but their hearts as well.
