Mameli - Lezioni di storia offers an opportunity to explore some of the defining chapters of an era of profound change and revolution that shaped Italy.

From 18 September, exclusively on RaiPlay, the series tells not only the story of Goffredo Mameli but also that of the Italian Risorgimento.

Taking the drama Mameli - Il ragazzo che sognò l’Italia as its starting point, the format’s eight episodes follow the young author of the Canto degli Italiani between 1847 and 1849.

Lead actors Riccardo De Rinaldis Santorelli and Amedeo Gullà guide viewers through history, exploring events, key figures and themes, from the geopolitical landscape of Europe and Italy at the time to the decisive events of 1848.

The journey moves from the First War of Independence to the rise and fall of the Roman Republic in 1849, taking in the writing of the Canto degli Italiani, today Italy’s national anthem.

It also explores the deeper motivations behind the patriotic struggles, the value of the Constitution and several lesser-known historical figures.
