Mariella and Domenico, both in their sixties and secretly in love, are about to reveal the truth about their relationship to their respective daughters, Diana (Euridice Axen) and Gaia (Chiara Francini), when they die in a car accident near their beautiful villa in Carloforte.

The two women, who have never met, are reluctantly forced to travel to the island to deal with the house their parents have left them.

They dislike each other almost immediately.

It could hardly be otherwise.

Diana is a serious, rule-bound doctor, obsessed with control and possessed of unstoppable determination. Gaia is a free spirit with no permanent roots, guided entirely by emotion and instinct.

Forced to remain in the village longer than expected and share the same house, the conflict between them escalates.

Diana wants to sell the property at any cost. Gaia, who has meanwhile fallen for the handsome diver Max (Cristiano Caccamo), sees the villa as her mother’s final gift and refuses to let it go.

It is all-out war.

But the two women soon find themselves facing a common enemy: Franco Lussurgiu (Cesare Bocci), who is determined to get his hands on the villa and has pulled strings at the town hall to have it declared illegal.

While searching for the building permits that could save them from Lussurgiu’s schemes, Diana discovers an old photograph.

And with it comes an unexpected revelation.
